How are people doing?

My goal for the coming week(s) is to do things poorly.
Yes, that was not a typo.
So, basically, the idea is to let go of wanting to only do things if I do them100% perfectly.
If I can't feed myself well, I'll feed myself poorly, but I'll feed myself. It's better than starving.
If I don't have the energy/motivation to shower or wash myself wet wipes will have to do. It's better than being smelly and feeling super icky.
If I struggle with the idea to clean the dishes in the kitchen I'll just do it in the bathroom sink even when it's not super sanitary to do so. It's better than being surrounded by piles of dirty smelly dishes.
If I can't focus on uni assignments I'll do them poorly. Barely passing would be better than failing because I didn't do them.
If I feel overwhelmed and awkward about interacting with my flatmates I'll just be awkward and weird rather than hiding from them and avoiding them to a ridiculous extend. It's better than being lonely and staying in bed all day.
If I can't get well mentally, maybe I'll at least can get better.

Perfectionism is the root of a lot of my procrastination and avoidance issues and if I can tackle the idea of having to do everything well or not doing them at all it might make my life easier and free up energy to actually do important things and at some point move from doing everything poorly to doing some things poorly and doing other things well.

I keep meaning to post some goals then end up feeling silly and selfish lol.

Those sound awesome though Lana and 100% approve.

Maybe your goal for next week could be to find one goal that you feel able to post?

that seems silly and lame. i'm just being silly because i don't want to take away from what anyone else is working on and i like being able to cheer everyone on and nag them.

speaking of,

nonperson, how are those dishes doing?

Lana, did you contact the wellbeing human at your uni yet? I know you mentioned that in the other thread and it sounded like a good goal.

*insert gentle nagging re these things here*

I appear to have slipped sleep wise. However saying that I have been brushing my teeth every day. Not always the recommended twice but at least it's something.

Good job for still doing the teeth brushing!! Absolutely it counts for something.

Do you feel like sleep schedule is something you want to continue to try to work on, or do you think it's better to just focus on one thing for now?

I want to try and work on my sleep schedule because my sleep pattern is ****ed due to being awake at 3 am. However I have this period of sleeping excesively/low mood in the middle of Jan that happens every year so I would like to tackle it before it kicks in.

My goal is to start doing more exercise to improve my physical and mental health. I gave up smoking beginning of October. Now I want to start eating regular meals and for now, do one form of exercise a week. SMART goals ftw

That makes sense, Dawn. Do you have any ideas about what helps?

Super well done quitting smoking Pomegranate! I like your goals those definitely sound SMART and hopefully are achievable for you.

I suppose not tempted to watch one more programme helps Camden. Other than that Idk.

I have slipped teeth wise since my last post. However bar one night so far this year I have been going to bed before 3 am. I am managing to wake up ok though it's yet to make an difference voice wise (the later I go to bed the worse the voices are the next day I have found).

Are what's on things you could record or find to watch later so you don't have to stay up to watch them? Also re the voices being impacted by sleep, maybe that would be a good way to remind yourself why it's important to have a better schedule and that could be motivation?

My goals for the rest of this week:
- take sleep aids every night
- nap when I need it

I am amazed to see you all fighting for your healing inch by inch. I know it's costing you more effort than most people will ever realize.

Keep up the good work.

- A

Not particularly. I've tried things in the past, but I'm not having much luck these days. Open to suggestions!

The trouble is with recording stuff is that I am tempted to watch them during the early hours as that's what I have been doing. Whereas with live TV ie not recordings I think sod it there's nothing interesting on and am tempted to go to bed. Plus most channels have nothing but teleshopping on during the early hours which is an absolute bore fest.

I went to bed early again and managed to brush my teeth. The voices were really good today however I dont know how much of this is due to the fact I had my depot yesterday. I guess if they are still good in a weeks time then I know that going to bed early really helps.

Good luck to everyone trying to improve their sleep schedule!
It's super hard to do.

I think I accidentally set myself a goal these last few days by creating the Rule that if I need food I *have* to go into the kitchen and get it, even if there's already people in there. I've bumped into my flatmates quite a few times and have yet to die. So I guess it's working out okay for me.

That is a very good rule. I hope remembering that your flatmates aren't that bad helps too.

I... *drum roll...* have just caught up with the washing up from before Christmas. It was totally gross (who knew left out milk could go neon yellow?) but it is finally done. The sides are wiped down and baking trays are soaking to be cleaned later. Kinda proud of myself.

Super well done nonperson!!!! Also thanks for the interesting information re milk! Did you take a photo to commemorate? It sounds like you did a lot of work and should be well proud.

Also Lana that sounds good and I am glad it has not ended horribly to run into your flatmates.

*cheers everyone else on too*

Thanks. Now to keep on top of it!

I felt the milk thing was definitely worth everyone else knowing. It was like that fluorescent yellow highlighter colour... =P

Did it do that separating thing where looks like water but the outside thick layer is yellow?

I’m way too invested in this milk situation.
