To all glasses-wearers!!

Ohai.
This is not worthy of a thread, but since when have any of my pointless threads been worthy of being threads...

ANYWAY. I am an occasional wearer of the spectacles, and only noticed today how it affects beverage consumption. Like, if you've got a wide-rimmed glass or beaker, when you put it to your mouth to drink, the top of it is obstructed by your specs. Whereas if there were no visual aid in the way, the top would go right up against your forehead.

I'm not sure I have described this well, but I hope you understand. Do any other glasses-wearers notice this problem? Do you take your glasses off in order to get a better drinking experience?

No other sadness in the world would do

As to taking ones spectacles off to drink that just sounds like too much effort so no i have never done that nor would i want to.

Much love for random Jenna threads!

Life is so hard when you have to wear glasses.
I have 20/15 vision so I can't share in your anguish. My condolences!

I went downstairs and grabbed a mug just to see if any of this is true (it is). Can't say I've ever had a problem with it, or even noticed. Probably because I sip drinks, rather than dunk my entire face in the glass.

Would it be easier if you wore a monacle? But then I guess only one eye could see. I guess you could wear two monacles but that wouldn't make life easier because you'd have to have your face scrunched up all the time. So, my vote goes to contact lenses. Or use a straw like Dot Cotton does when she's got her make-up applied. By the way, I think that this is an excellent observation, and spectacle-makers everywhere should read and take note.

lol yeah but its not really a problem to me. i usually forget i have them on, though, like that time i wanted to look through my binoculars which i raised and held as close as possible to my eyes with a quick, confident move and i jammed my glasses onto my face, i even hurt my nose a bit cos i forgot i had them on.

Our lives are hard. Maybe there is a correlation between glasses wearers and self harm.

oh i find the worst thing about drinking/ spec wearing, is when you drink a hot drink it steams your specs making you temporarily blind!

same goes for when i open the oven

I do not appreciate this insinuation about my preferred style of beverage consumption

The thought of attempting to wear two monacles is giving me a lot of amusement right now :p In fact, I have just tried it, using two small plastic spoons, conveniently located in my desk tidy.

A poll might well prove enlightening on this thought...

I have always worn glasses but cannot say I have noticed this, I don't think!

I am not very observant maybe, therefore not much credence should be given to my experience, or lack of.

You know what I am now going to go and do though.. experiment time!

I read this and was like, "nothing I drink out of reaches my forehead, how preposterous!" but then I measured my face up to the glass I'm drinking out of RIGHT NOW and it's true! It does reach my forehead!
And I wear glasses!
I have truely learnt something today.

I think I overcome this by tilting my head backwards while I take a drink so the glass stays away from my head. Or something, because I always wear glasses but have never noticed a problem with drinking.

Or at least, not this kind of drinking problem. Lol.

^ Yeah, there has been a behavioural modification it seems for the clever glasses wearer to tip back the head and avoid beaker clashing :P

I believe this is much more likely than me being unobservant.... (Y)

I've noticed it, but it's never bothered me. I've been wearing glasses for 14 yrs so possibly can't remember any different.

YES! Annoys me all the time. I also tend to notice that there's a small issue when I smoke. I tend to exhale upwards therefore trapping the smoke against my eyeball. =D
tis not fun to be a wearer of the eyeball extensions.

I wear my glasses all the time [I have horrid vision and it keeps getting worse] but I have never noticed that although now that you mention it yes it does happen but it doesn't bother me than again I sip at drinks so I never have much of a issue with it.

I personally would choose glasses over anything else because I love my glasses and plus to me they just feel like a part of my face I feel so naked without them.

The only real problem for me with glasses is that sometimes when I smoke the smoke travels upward and gets stuck so it gets in my eye and that freaking hurts. Also I hate how you have to constantly clean your glasses and god forbid it is raining.

Just to mention it is hard as heck for me to watch a 3d movie since I can't really wear those annoying 3d glasses over my own ones. I have the same problem with sunglasses as well but that could easily be fixed if I ever bothered to get prescription sunglasses.
