If you decide to reapply in future, I think you can do that. Right now, I hope you find work that will be less stressful for you than school. Thinking of you.

Hey Beckie,

I've been reading and not sure what to write but I just wanted to stick my head in and say it's not the end. You've made a very brave decision which it sounds like is right for you for now. But. You can still do it in the future. I remember when I dropped out of my umpteenth course feeling like I was a failure but the time came that I felt able to study again and with lots and lots of support I am here doing it. Needing support or to take time out doesn't mean you've failed. And I know of people who have done a nursing course in their thirties, forties or even fifties. Don't give up, give yourself a chance to get ready to get back into studying, take up a hobby, maybe get a voluntary job.
This is not the end.

It's a hard decision to make, really hard, but if you know it's the right one then that's what matters. It was brave of you to recognise that.

I hope a lovely job comes along for you soon <3

It's definitely not the end and doesn't mean you can't ever go back.

Give yourself the time and space you need to be sad and process the decision. I know you didn't make the decision to go back without much consideration, and this can't have been easy for you either. It's something that matters to you, so of course it's going to hurt and be hard and that is okay.

Take care of yourself, and let others know how they can support you if need be.

Oh Beckie, that's sad to read but I can only echo everyone else and say it really isn't the end. Think of all the opportunities that are now open to you instead! The world could be your oyster if you let it. =)

Could you maybe look into career advice from somewhere?

I could ask my CC about career stuff
I think there's a person within the CMHT who supports with that kind of thing

That sounds like a really good idea and also perfect that they'll understand it from a mh perspective too.

I'm sure there's something out there that will be doable. Might just have to think outside the box a little.

All I really know how to do is caring jobs
I really can't do anything that deals with money because if I have to count things or anything I just totally break down (not an exaggeration)
There must be something out there

Oh I get the money thing. I once had a summer job on the tills in a garden centre and could not work out how to calculate peoples' change. =/ Got to the point where the customers were telling me how much to give them...

I'm good with/like math and I HATE handling money it makes me so anxious that I never get change right or take too long or drop it. So it's definitely not just you.

I know it's not the same as caring for humans but I do pet sitting/dog walking and take care of people's animals for them. It can be a bit stressful, especially when the animals are ill but I've also found it pretty flexible schedule wise. I don't know though as it might work differently due to transportation and things there, so there might not be a great need for pet sitters/dog walkers or it might not be feasible. But when you mentioned caring for others, that was a thing that came to my mind.

I think there are a lot of pet sitters/dog walkers in the area already but that is something I would enjoy doing I think

The other thought I had was nannying. I know if they did a background check you might have to explain things, but I mean I am pretty sure you do like children? And it's still caregiving.

I'm thinking of you lovely. Sorry college didn't work out, I was gutted when mine didn't, but as other people have said it doesn't have to be the end, for example I'm thinking (when I've given myself a bit longer to recooperate) of going and trying to start a Signing course that leads to a qualification and focussing on that side of things rather than the Counselling side-my point being just because it isn't obvious now what direction you want to go in you may well stumble over it general life.

Oh, I guess I assumed you were since you do have one. But I guess having your own is different than others.

How have you been doing the past few days?

I’m sorry to hear this Becky. I just wanted to say though that although it probably feels awful, it really isn’t the end of the world. There are people on my nursing course in their forties and fifties. I have no doubt you’ll get there, just maybe now isn’t the right time- and that’s ok. Take care.
