Going to dermatologist for scars...

So I'm seeing a dermatologist tuesday for my scars ... This is HUGE for me, it's like this really means the end of my SI (if that makes sense?)

But I'm scared ... I'll have to tell her they are SI scars, what if she doesn't want to help me? Ok I'm probably just paranoid...

Anyone seen a dermatologist and how did it go?

I've not seen one but I wish you the best of luck when you go. It sounds like a really important step or you to be taking and you should be very proud of yourself :)

I can't say for certain obviously but I'm pretty sure she would help you. *cuddles*

Take care and I'm around if you need someone to talk to.

Thanks for the replies! Yeah it does feel like closure (which is scary at the same time)
I'm sure she'll be fine, my doctor recommended her and I don't think he'd reffer me to someone who is ignorant about SI... Well I hope so anyway :)

i think if they did refuse to do it dont think its ultimatley cos they are sh scars. in england anyway they way up pro's and con's for surgery and if what they did would be effective in the management of scars. but if your gp has referred you then hopefully he believes that they can be helped.

sorry i know thats a bit of a downer post but i just wanted you to be aware they dont always do treatment, but fingers crossed. *hugs*

I'm not looking for treatment actually... because I've already heard that it doesn't help most of the times.
More to see what she has to say, and maybe some professional ways of cover-up ...

I'll post how it was anyway :)

I went to a dermatologist about SH scars. She wasn't that nice about it, but did give me a cream. It helped slightly, so it was kind of worth it. Good luck!

yeh i was thinking about my post, even if they thought surgery wasnt appropriate, there are other things such as creams like lou said and also LASER can be used.
if your not happy to say what there from then dont say, the age is probably more relevant than why you caused them in the first place

anyway good luck, hope you get a nice person :)
