*lol* I don't like such tv programmes... is it embarrassing to confess that I watch things like Shortland Street and all those other kiwi programmes just because of the lovely accent?

Oh I'm having dinner at the mo as well, a bacon and egg sandwich without tomato sauce because my KIWI boyfriend doesn't like tomato sauce!
There's more kiwi in me apparently

oh he doesn't like rugby either and I'm sooo happy about that We have SkyTV now and when the other kiwis are here they always watch rugby... They don't even let me watch Tom&Jerry

But, I have do admit, I'm German and I hate soccer, I only watch it during the World Cups ^^

Anyway, you all surely know the "Get Some Kiwi In Ya"-ads?! Can be a lot of fun if there are a lot of foreigners

hehe rugby is only cool if you're actually at the game! Im not a huge fan of it but being right on the sidelines its hard not to get into it.

Uh I just was told that there's a difference between Rugby League and Rugby Union. *lol* I don't see any difference both looks like a mixture of martial arts, wrestling and getting penalties

BUT I have already been to a rugby game, it was the All Blacks vs South African Spring Boks last year in October in Hamilton. It was my 5th week in NZ and I haven't had a clue of Rugby so sometimes me and a mate (German as well^^) were just standing there and weren't even sure on which side the All Blacks have to get the ball

hahahahahahahaha you are my new legend.
:) if you want to learn the difference don't go to a paid game- go to a game in the suburbs but basically union is what the all blacks play- you can tackle, league is one touch type thing. I personally think league is stupid and not real rugby but its ment to be harder.

but you did describe them quite well :)
and it takes a while to get rugby- either play it or watch it from about 2. :)

Touch is pretty good and definitely a kiwi tradition i have learnt- and very easy to play in the "backyard"

Uh I just remembered something REALLY embarrassing My boyfriend and me spent Easter Weekend with his mum and she told us about her landlords who went up to Wellington to watch the Hurricanes. Erm, I, stupid, REALLY ask: "what? is it so windy up there??? " I didn't even think about Rugby -.-' They cracked up laughing and gave me **** for that the whole weekend ^^

I think "my" kiwis here make some fun of me, because they try to teach me how to play rugby but I wonder if that is really the way rugby is played o.O We're figuring out a mixture of soccer and rugby at the moment and I'm allowed to use my martial art skills

Oh and another sport I really do not understand: cricket!! I heard they even have TEA breaks?? (well, I'm not sure if they were having me on though)

Hey everyone, sorry to butt in , but its good to see some life here. I'm in Auckland and the weather is about to turn nasty here from the sound of the wind. Maybe the Hurricanes are playing here this weekend lol.

I don't watch rugby now, but I did used to play many years ago, in the front row, and I just got smashed 3 times a week, twice at training and once more real good on game day, So yeah, even I don't get it really!

Hope everyone ok, keep conversing ;)

Neddie, sure I like sports, I'm an martial arts person. I took Judo lessons for almost 13 years, but quit and started training Taekwondo which I've been doing for a few years now.
Oh and I love skiing, which I really want to do here
Aaand as the country is so beautiful, I'm still going to do some Great Walks but haven't done any multi-day tracks so far (had a torn ligament -.-). And it actually would be quite fatal if I go back home without doing the Milford or Doubtful Track *lol*

And what the hell is SKELETON racing??

*lol* yeah, my rugby "obsession"... but I can blame it on my hair colour though Why do you kiwis have so many blond jokes anyway??

ANd yes you have got to do the great walks!!!! they are awesome. id come with if you want- but i probably should be good and go to school.

Skeleton is like luge but on your front head first. Its safer as your centre of balance is lower.
