Can anyone help me with reducing pain associated with this condition?

I can hardly walk.

Thanks.

I had PF one summer and it was a real hard thing to fix. Then I bought a pair of PF inserts for 10 dollars and pain was gone in 3 days. These are the women's version of the ones I got

I think the hard arch arc is key and not all PF inserts have it.

This massage therapists vid is also good. He looks like a nut but he gives good advice.

What were you advised by whoever diagnosed you?

Stetching out the calf muscles is pretty much always a suggestion but I found
Massaging the muscle down the edge of your shin bone and also massaging the bottom of your foot with a golf ball all helped me.

Nothing really. He said it would have to be monitored but never told me what or how to do that and I was too fogged to ask questions.

Sorry I can't seem to copy and paste links at the moment. Silly phone or silly brain; I'm not sure which one is to blame! Either way, try this: look up the webMD, plantar fasciitis: exercises to relieve pain. Scroll down to the section 'exercises to do each day'. This details most of the exercises my physio gave me for plantar fasciitis and has a range for strengthening and stretching all the right bits.

The other thing to do is to get your running shoes checked out. We have a chain in Australia called 'Active Feet'. I'm sure there would be an English equivalent. It is a sports shoe store where you get fitted by a podiatrist and they watch you run in the shoes on a treadmill to check everything is aligned properly. It costs nothing for the consultation. You just pay the RRP for the shoes. Even if your shoes are the right type for you, if they are old or overused, they may not be working effectively anymore.

Thanks guys. I've been doing the massage and ice and stretching for almost two years just because it helped, but not because I realized I had the condition (I didn't know it existed until I was diagnosed).

I've been told if it doens't respond to more treatment I'll have surgery.

I'm going to get heel supports now.

I've also just booked myself in for acupuncture at 3 to see if that helps.

I hope it helped and reduced the pain a bit.

Can you ask your GP whether physio is an option and whether they can refer you?

I tried the heel inserts and they didn't do anything.
PF surgery is eventually - if not immediately - a disaster
