It's always recommended to clean a piercing once a morning and once at night to be safe,
but if you feel the need you can clean it more. Once a day - morning - could also be fine.
Cartlidge is a picky piercing at times; you lie on the pillow and probably lay on that side,
so grab all the germs etc off the pillow and onto your ear. So best to be safe and clean
morning and night. For changing it, leave it until the recommended "healing time" is over,
or better, long after. They say around 1-2 months for healing, but it's even safer to leave it
a little longer as anything can irritate the piercing and keep it unhealed.
For example, I had a scaffold piercing and that didn't heal for over a year.
Are you supposed to turn the ring at all? I have an orbital so it would be pretty hard and painful to turn and I don't want to agitate it and cause it to reject, but I don't want to stuff up the healing either if it needs to be turned.

Well, i turned it a bit! Wasn't too bad, hurt a little though. I have noticed that one of the holes seems to have moved about 2mm from its original place, I assume it's just from the pressure of the ring as the other hole is pretty firmly in one place (I have an orbital), is there anything I can do to try and prevent it moving any further or rejecting?

I'm having surgery on the 17th and I've only had my lip pierced for 6 weeks but I have to take it out for the surgery. It'll only be out for 2 hours, will I be able to get it back in you think?
Hi, I had my eye brow pierced about 8 months ago, at first it seems to heal really well, but for the past couple of months I have been getting crusties at both ends of the bar. I am soaking it in saline twice a day to keep it clean. Sometimes its looks bruised and there is a tiny bit of swelling. Could this be a sign the it is migrating, or being rejected?
I have my helix done (had it done end of June-ish) and at the back it has a blister filled with yellow coloured stuff and is bleeding. How can I clean it up?
Salt water soak with warm boiled water and about a quarter of a teaspoon of non-iodised salt is good. I would do it twice a day for say 3 days then daily for 2 weeks and see how it goes. Change pillowcases frequently and try not to fiddle with it.

Hey, I've been having some trouble with an eyebrow piercing. There seems to be a little bit of swelling near the bottom hole (though not all the way around it). It's not red or anything and is only really sore to the touch (doesn't really hurt that much then) There's nothing to indicate that it's infected or anything and I keep it clean, still even though it's way past the healing stage.
At first I thought it was an ingrown hair but now I just think that it's irritation. I have a ring and there seems to be a little tearing around the edges, probably from me bumping it in my sleep or something. Should I be worried about this? Is there anything I can do other than keep it clean and watch to make sure it doesn't get infected? I'm taking some immune system boosters...I apparently have a weakened immune system and I have a hard time getting anything to heal anyway.
You might want to call your piercer and see if they can swap the ring out for a bar. Rings often reject and can get really irritated, so a bar is usually the better way to go anyway. Sea salt soaks with warm water (make sure it's sea salt and not table salt) should help soothe it.

Oh, but God, I want to let it go.
