In my experience, or grasp of the English language, "queer" is one of the least offensive "offensive" words, at least where I am, or among the people that have surrounded me. I know a few people who prefer to call themselves Queer, rather than any of the other LGBT words. Personally, I don't much like the word, but not because it's insulting; I just prefer other ones. I think it's a matter of taste; I refer to myself as lesbian or gay interchangeably, but I know others who are much more picky about their labels.
