Was it fast for you there can I ask? :) You're geographically close to our data centre when you're in London of course.

Yes, it was pretty fast. As it was in an internet cafe the other day also.

It is possible that my Norton automatic Live Updates are slowing my home pc down. Although the internet cafe has Norton also, but then they have Broadband, so I guess that makes a difference.

So glad it was quick for you in both places!

Depending on the version of Norton in use, it can actually be a complete sod when it comes to affecting PC performance. Incidentally, I tend to recommend NOD32 (www.eset.com) to my clients for AV protection - it's better than Norton at detecting nasties, and also *much* faster for your PC too.

longing tears - which library are you in? I live in Camden! I know I've been on RYL using the wireless in Swiss Cottage, but I've never used an actual library terminal.

Yep, twas Swiss Cottage. :)

I used to have Nod for a while. When I got a major virus that attacked Norton and hence my old pc, a work colleague's partner fixed it for me, and put in Nod. But my subscription ran out.

Our work IT is going over to the borough corporate network tomorrow. I reckon a whole lot of stuff, including even v2 is going to get blocked.
You will find me at an internet cafe in Neasden at lunchtimes, most likely...
