Reviews Requested- Safe - A Poem: Mourning Light
Untitled
As the mourning light shines after a dark night
I think of those who hide from the day.
Those for whom the sun is too bright as it shines
on their imperfections and reveals their true selves.
Those for whom the day brings harsh realities
of what life has prepared for them.
Those who run from a world that has come to despise them
and disguise them from the life that has horror in store for them.
As the blinds were closed, the light exposed the lines on the face of a terrified soul who once flew beside the birds and disturbed the status quo.
But we all know that life must show us the truth, whether we like it or not.
But what have we got?
What do we know, who do we show the secrets of this world to when there are no more secrets to bestow?
We are the voiceless, the choiceless, the discreet and the uncomplete.
We are the gay and the straight, the love and the hate
Can we save the world, I fear it's too late.
