doctors dont weigh you every visit, mine certainly dont. and im sure they are fully aware that weight changes throughout the day depending on food, fluids, clothes, if someone has r hasnt been to the loo or is on their period.

not sure what you are wanting from this post really?

What this person said ^ Doctors spend a lot of time studying so I am sure they are aware that weight changes throughout the day.....

They weigh you because then they can see if there have been any large gains or losses which could be a symptom of an underlying condition or could be related to medication. For example, I am on the depo injection and since being on it I have gained some weight (personally I think its because I eat too much) but some studies have shown that this can cause weight gain.

I can't believe you mentioned going to the loo and periods in the same thread UnanimousAnonymous, I sniggered a little....

Geez Claire, how old are you?! *giggles as well*. Now all we need is for someone to mention sex and we'll collapse into a fit of giggling teenagers :P

In related news, I barely ever get weighed at the doctors, even know they are aware that I am underweight and have food shizzle. I'm surprised that they would weigh anyone at any appointment; I guess they only do it when it's relevant to the appointment, like if it's a contraception check-up (which obvs I don't have, FOREVER ALONE) or type II diabetes check.

No other sadness in the world would do

I get weighed at every doctors appointment, too. Huh. I wonder if maybe it's just an American thing. :P

If the doctor has put you on a diet then yeah they will, other wise if you have weight related health issues then they will as well.

I get weighed because I've had trouble with my weight in the past (ED related and non ED related). My brother on the other hand very, very rarely gets weighed.

I'm almost never weighed. In fact, maybe only once.

But still.. what did you want from this thread?

I only get weighed at the doctors if I join a new practise or when starting contraception, otherwise I have never been weighed.

same, i only get weighed when i am joining a new practice.

ive had to be weighed a few more times recently because of recent events.

maybe you should just ask your doctor?

I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!

Who else is fine?!?!?

The only thing I don't get is why this is in First Aid.

You answered your own question... they probably weigh you every time you go because it saves you having to make an extra trip.

Well there's your answer then.

It's impossible for us to answer this question because it will depend on your health history and why you may need to be weighed. Why don't you ask your doctor next time you go why they weigh you at every visit, if it bothers you.

Even as the stone of the fruit must break
that its heart may stand in the sun,
so must you know pain.

There are only two ways in which one can live their life. One is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is.
