Bulimia has ruined my teeth, I’m so ashamed of them and don’t know what to do, any advice?

Honestly, yea, as above, see a dentist. A professional can best advise you here in a way that we can't. It might be really hard, but if you can go, be honest with them about what happened and whether or not it is still occurring so they can provide you with informed care and advice.

Do you have any other support? A GP or mental health team you can speak to about any of this?

Please do not give me virtual hugs unless you are only using the hug function on threads. Thanks.

I’m terrified of the dentist but hear what you’re saying
Does anyone know if my dentist would tell my gp or cpn about my bulimia?

Legally they cant in the UK-presuming you are based there. Depending on age the absolute most we could do as dental professionals is to raise a safeguarding concern with social services. We are bound by very strict confidentiality rules and honestly if we flagged up every single person with teeth that are damaged by bulimia we would never get any dentistry done. Also you state cpn, that suggests you are already in treatment anyway?

Always worth when making an appointment to explain then that you are nervous, if theres a choice of dentist the reception staff can advise on most sympathetic to nervous patients. And can book longer assessments if they know you are nervous and have issues with your teeth.

I have teeth issues due to my acid reflux and have been talking to my dentist about veneer. I've read that acid doesn't break down veneer and being that it's like a cap it would help my sensitivity too. Depending on how your teeth are and what the dentist says it could be an option to look at.

Forget the risk and take the fall if it's what you want it's worth it all

Closing due to age. Sophie, feel free to PM me if you want this thread reopening at any time.

(Twisted Fate, don't worry- you didn't bump this old thread, it was already bumped when you replied but the post has now been deleted)
