But what about like someone else said, they work in a climbing thingy and sweet a lot so they need to use it...

I have a medical problem that makes me sometimes smell more then normal..what am I suppose to do?

I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving the house without a little spray.

That's ok Mike - you're entitled to your opinion as much as mine. Didn't mean to offend you in any way.

Edit: just seen your most recent post. I wish I had a constructive answer right now, but I'm quite tired. In the bluntest way possible, perfume isn't a necessity to keep us alive. I can understand why it would help you feel more secure in your medical problem, but it doesn't come under the same category as life saving medicine.

Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world awaits in darkness for the light that is you.

I think it's fair to say that almost everything has been tested on animals at some point - it might be helpful to think about choosing companies (for cosmetics etc.) who no longer test on animals in any way? I think a law is being/has been passed (not entirely sure) in Britain so that British companies can/will no longer be able to test cosmetics on animals.

I think it's a really big spectrum between using cosmetic products which are still being tested on animals and using medicines/other life-saving stuff which has been tested on animals at some point... and one could argue it's ALL wrong in principle, but we're human and we're naturally designed to want to survive, it's what keeps us alive and our species going, so it's understandable most of us would want to take medications etc. But it's not necessary to use cosmetic products that are still being tested on animals.

Hope that made a degree of sense, I'm not good at explaining myself well. At the end of the day people have the right to make their own choices, absolutely.

Are there any alternatives to use in Australia? Because those brands are here too. Thanks for this thread Adam.

I don't think i saw the brand Simple on that list, do they test on animals?

A comprehensive list of companies who don't test on animals, available in Australia, can be found here:

http://www.choosecrueltyfree.org.au/list.html

Hope it's helpful.

and according to their website Simple don't test on animals.

However they are part of the Unilever company, which test some ingredients on animals.
That will have to come down to a personal choice I guess. The products under the Simple brand probably aren't tested on animals, they pride themselves on the purity stuff. Unilever do own a large portion of the toiletries market I guess it would be near impossible to avoid all products.

This but because I haven't really ever thought about my views on animal testing, it's kinda at the bottom of my list of priorities, but I respect people who do have concerns over these matters.

It wasn't stuffed into a small cage or pen and made to suffer just so they can test whether or not the lipstick will irritate your skin.

Other than that, I have to admit, you have very good points.
My father worked as a lab technician in a university and they kept animals for testing up until I was about 8, they where kept in excellent conditions and had excellent welfare, had breaks from being at the university (staff took them home to look after for a couple of weeks a year) and they where put down if a test had a adverse effect on them. They where never ever kept in horrible little cages and made to suffer to the extent that people who are against animal testing claim.

This example could have been an exception to the rule though.

on a more serious note it does annoy me when the hard core animal rights ppl do things like release these animals straight outside, what do they think will happen to them?

but now I just go with whatever is on offer.
Gillette antiperspirant at the moment.
