Relapse

So...I started self harming over 13 years ago, and I've been on and off in recovery for about 8 years. Recently, things have been hard and I feel like my typical self harm behaviors are starting to change shape. Since I'm not doing x, it seems justifiable to do y. How do you deal with symptom swapping? I can't seem to stop this relapse.

Maybe I'm just talking to no one. Maybe I will feel like this forever. Maybe this is a habit that I can never break. I'm 27. I should have stopped this by now.

I am sorry that you didn't get an response. You posted this at 11.35 pm UK time. The board doesnt tend to have much activity after 10 pm uk time as ryl is quiet these days. In addition people dont necessarily know what to say. I dont know what to say as I have no direct experience but I read and care. Maybe someone with more experience can help.

I guess one way of dealing with it would be do classify all of them as just 'self harm' to try and reduce your inclination to think that one behaviour might be justified over another. Otherwise it's a slippery slope of 'what counts'.

How are you getting on now?

No other sadness in the world would do
