Relapse Again
So upset with myself for allowing the urge to get the better of me. Couldnt't sleep all last night and all I thought about was how to SH. Then once my partner had gone to work this morning I give in and SH. the worst part tomorrow I have training at work and it requires me wearing a t-shirt. Can't hide the SH as its on my forearm! Feeling really **** about myself right now :(

it is natural to be disappointed, and i would be concerned if you weren't, but beating yourself up about it (literally or figuratively) is not going to help you at all. you've already been very harsh to yourself when you cut, now you need to make an effort to be gentle with yourself

The magical part: They NEVER run out, so borrow some any time you want.

I know it's hard but try not to beat yourself up over this. It happens to us all at some point in our recovery. The important thing is that you pick yourself up and keep trying. Do you know what caused the urges? Hope it went okay at work for you. Stay strong

Work did go ok, got away with wearing a long sleeve t-shirt with arms rolled up that just covered scar! I always pick myself up and carry on but I'm fed up of the endless urges. Urges that come on for no apparent reason, like whilst walking my dog which I enjoy?!

I'm glad that work went okay for you. The endless urges are tiring and while they may always be there over time you do get stronger and better able to deal with them so they hardly bother you. You might find this article on sticking to stopping helpful.

The article domes up exactly the cycle! I'm going through therapy and in the beginning it really helped but now I seem to be SH more than before I started therapy?! Who knows why, but all I know is the day I choose to start SH was the worst decision of my life!

It is not unusual to hear that therapy has made your self-harm worse. This often happens because what is discussed in therapy can be quite upsetting. Have you told your therapist that you think it's making things worse? As perhaps you could work together on strategies to help when the urges get too much.

I have a session coming up next week, so I will discuss it with my therapist. I can understand if I was getting stressed or somebody had upset me or my usual triggers but lately the need to SH has come from literally nowhere.
