good luck white noise.

I know i have kinda mentioned this a few times before in passing, and i am also aware that it varies from uni to uni, but i am about to apply for extenuating/mitigating (My uni cant decide what to call them) circumstances for last semesters work as i have basically failed spectacularly. Just wondered if anyone has any tips and advice for it?

That made sense in my head so if it doesnt on here i am very sorry.

I can only say that you need to be honest with them. They can't help with something they don't know about.

*resurrects thread*

Apart from two exams today was my last day of university as an undergraduate student. Hopefully going back for a postgrad if I get in, but still quite sad.

Now I need to concentrate on exams. Yay!

I've applied for one too, and I think I'll get in as long as I can get a 2.1 purely because I've put on the form that I can self-fund. But the department has bursaries, and my supervisor has sent me a form for another one. Now to fill in 'why this bursary will significantly help me complete my degree'... Erm...

I think I'll get in with a 2.2 but hopefully I'll get a 2.1, you never know though.
If I get a 2.1 I could get a bursary but they only have 100 for all the courses. It's not good.

I'm just going to have to beg my bank to be nice to me and give me a loan that isn't too bad lol.

I have an exam tomorrow. Normally the exams aren't before the summer, but in this particular subject we have so much to cover, so they split it in half. That's a good thing, when I think about it... But I really don't wanna do it. >_<

You can get Career Development Loans from, I think, Barclays or the Co-op banks. I think the maximum they will lend is £10,000, and obviously it's not guaranteed.

I'm lucky that I could afford it even if I don't get a bursary, but it eat into pretty much all my savings and I would probably need to work more than I currently do. I think I'll need a bit more than 'this bursary would enable me to work less hours and spend more time in the library' to get the bursary.

Edit: Endymion, why don't you want to do the exam?

I really want to avoid the Barclays loans - the APR on repayments is so ridiculously high.
I could technically afford it on my savings but I would be very poor at the end of it!!

Me too, and if I do decide to do a PhD I would like to have at least some financial cushion to allow me to move cities if need be.

Yeah, CDLs are only really recommended if you think/know you will have a job at the end of it, because that's when repayments start.
