Love!

Did anyone do this this year? I'm looking forward to opening my jar on Tuesday.

This sounds great! People have suggested that I write down a positive thing every day but I've found that too difficult. This sounds way more manageable, and in would really enjoy decorating the jar :)

I hope you enjoy opening yours on Tuesday Lindsay x

Yeah, I think that trying to force yourself to think of one thing every day is difficult and means you'd be left with less memorable things at the end of the year. I prefer to only write really significant things. Although I know this year I wrote 'cauliflower properly boiled not microwaved' which is not exactly significant!

Haha I like that re: cauliflower XD I guess it doesn't have to be significant as much as mean something to you?

Today, I was waiting to cross the road, and (once again) someone's dog on the other side tried to come over and say hi even though I was just standing there. I love dogs and they sometimes get very happy to see me which in turn makes me super happy, so I would absolutely write it down!

That would be a great thing to write down.

Do you think you will do this for next year?

I just wanted to share some of the things that were in my jar this year to give people an idea of what things they might include. Also I'd love to hear other peoples positives at the end of this year if they start a jar.

Some of mine from 2019:

First time donating blood.

CPN.

Matilda The Musical.

Yummy Easter eggs.

On TV David Cameron said "everybody knows" and my brain finished it off with 'badger loves mashed potato.'

Crookshanks smacking his lips when he's sleeping.

Galaxy caramel waffle with vanilla ice cream.

Some things RYLers have said.

Psychologist saying he was proud of me for coming to stress control (incredibly ****ing proud).

Dr Kahn from GPs: Behind Closed Doors, especially when he shared his lunch with the patient who fainted.

The kind SFRS people.

Trafficator on car looking like pointing finger.

Walking on wall on mindful walk around loch.

Cauliflower boiled in a pot rather than microwaved.

Chocolate apples.

Gym group.

CPN coming into work in her own time to see me because "that's how important this is."

TV - Wentworth Prison

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.

I really love this idea - I’m definitely going to do this for 2020! Thanks for the inspiration! I enjoyed reading your positives from 2019, too - thanks for sharing :) AND Thank you for donating blood - I cannot donate blood, because I have been a blood donor recipient in the past and they don’t let us give blood after we’ve had a transfusion in the past - but somebody like you who gave blood saved my life once - so thank you very much!

We're at the end of the year so I'm bumping this again. Did anyone do this this year? Most of my positives for this year were kind things people have said to me on here and on Fb. Not much from the outside world and outside people except for mentioning a nurse on the psych ward who was really lovely. I feel kind of sad, in general, but thank you to the people on here whose words were in my jar. Tomorrow I will be designing a scrapbook page to display all the positives.

Do it for 2021! It''s a nice way to end the year.

I'm sorry you feel sad about it but I think it has been one of those years where everyone has had to hold on to whatever small positive things they can. And maybe that in itself means the small things become bigger and more important. Kind words can go a long way.

I do really like this idea. Maybe I'll give it a go.

I can see why looking through the positive jar feels a bit sad this year but I'm glad you still had some things to look through and put in a scrap book.

I keep tickets, photos etc to put in a scrap book and in lockdown we finally started putting the years of scrap book together- there's not a lot there for 2020 sadly :(

I had nothing in my positives jar for 2021 but just bumping this because I still think a positives jar is a really good thing to have, maybe more people could try it this year. Did anyone keep one last year?

I was so sad to read that you didn't have any! I hope there will be some in 2022 for you. Is there anything you could plan that would make it into the jar? I'm thinking something like if you have a particular goal, reaching it or making progress towards it could go in there.

I'm not sure. Things just seem to come up or they don't. I can't think of any goals and I wouldn't go a trip somewhere. Will wait and see how this year goes.

Bumping this as usual.

I only wrote 3 things in 2022 but I still think keeping a positives jar is a good thing for remembering at the end of the year some significant things that you can smile about.

Do it! That is an order.
