Sleep!?

It's Christmas, I know, sorry guys.
I'm totally going to lose my temper soon.
For a week now I have just been surviving off naps which are literally like an hour long.
My body just won't sleep at all, it's so frustrating at night :(
I'm on sleeping tablets, I've been on them for years, and I'm also on opiates at the moment due to a recent operation, which when I had my operation I slept like crazy, and now nothing!
I don't know what to do.
I've tried warm baths, lavander spray, reading books, milky drinks, relaxation CDs, nothing is doing anything and I don't know what to do.

Have you ever tried a self help book on sleeping? They sometimes have good tips.

Also have you tried not napping in the day time as that can effect the quality of sleep you get at night?

The average,
well-adjusted adult
gets up at 7.30am feeling just plain terrible.

Call me Kate.

I have dyslexia so please excuse my poor spelling and sometimes poor understanding.

From what I gather, sleeping tablets start to lose their effect when used over a long period of time, so if you've been on the same one for a while, you could go back to your doctor to see about changing onto a different one.

As above, if you don't nap at all during a day does that improve your sleep at night at all?

No other sadness in the world would do

High dose niacin tablets are good you can get them online and they help with anxiety which is a plus. I've been recommended melatonin but I haven't tried it so I can't say.

Sorry you are finding it so difficult to sleep. Definitely is not fun!

I definitely agree with what everybody has said about the sleeping tablets and it will also be the same from the painkillers as your body has likely adjusted to the drowsiness caused by them.

Are you able to get up at the same time every day and try and sleep at the same time every day?

Good luck xx

What I've found really helpful is about an hour before I go to bed I turn off all the lights & just had candle light/TV light on, something about the darkness produces this chemical in your brain that makes you sleepy :dunno:
