I mean there's a lot of death and disaster and near misses in Star Trek but at least it's exciting and diverse and unpredictable and a bigger picture than most people can imagine.

Completely agree.

It's silly really, isn't it, that aliens and stuff in a fictional show are perfectly acceptable but different races/skin colours IRL aren't ok. Gah! That's a debate for a different thread I think!
