I feel isolated and trapped.

First a little background on me. I've struggled with mental and social disorders for a majority of my life. In order to cope with being alone I got deep into my hobbies (Electrical and software engineering) and was satisfied for most of my childhood. There's always been something missing and over the past few years I've grown more and more of a craving for physical social interaction. I've just entered college and it appears to me that although choosing to live at home with my parents and go to a community college is cost effective, it's awfully isolating. (Housing prices here are insane and student debt isn't something I want to fall into). There doesn't seem to be much going on at my college or within my community. I never really learned to drive, so that's icing on the cake. I'm at the point where i'm spending many of my days at home alone and that's not the way I want to live.

I'm unsure of what step to take, and I thought here might be a good place to try for some advise.
Thanks.

This might not be an idea you'd consider if you're not confident but would you be able to create something like a social group focusing on something specific for college students to join, if there aren't already groups or ones that interest you? Do you speak to anyone in your classes? There's a website called Meetup which might have some groups on it that are local to you or accessible by public transport.

I've never heard of meetup before and it's definitely something i'll have to try out. Thanks.

I've tried in school clubs that match my interests and they appear to not meet too often. I feel somewhat confident in my social abilities at the moment and speak to others in my classes but can never really seem to form anything lasting even if it's only for the duration of the semester. I'm thinking it may help me to find some additional hobbies to be able to branch out more.

What sort of things might you like to try? Even if you're not sure if it's for you, you might end up discovering you enjoy something that you never thought you would.
