Didn't know where else to put this

Basically no longer have any sort of eating disorder although suffered with anorexia and bulimia in the past. However I am struggling as am unwell anyway and I'm trying to make myself eat but am just not hungry, unfortunately with low potassium especially and low iron I really really need to eat but despite trying everything I like on the best days I can get a bit of a piece of bread soaked with soup down, medium days a little bit of soup bad days nothing. Any advice on anything other than soup or in general? I love soup I really do but there's so many days you can have it in a row and it's a struggle to finish a can of it. Normally have half put it in the fridge have the other half tomorrow but I really REALLY don't want to end up in hospital again. But no appetite plus being sick sort of scuppers that. Any advice, seriously any.

Could you build on the soup by adding some pasta too it??

Could you manage things like baked beans with toast? good for low iron.

A number of breakfast cereals are fortifed with iron and could be an alternative to soup.

^ I may look into the breakfast cereal, baked beans etc. Baked beans sounds like a really good idea (as do the others) actually, easy to get down plus iron for the win. Thanks :)

Although for some reason milk is tending to make me sick at the moment (no idea why, always been fine with it before although to be fair there is a lot of weird stuff I can't keep down right now).

Do you think that softer/easier foods would help? I wonder if things like custard, semolina (my twin loves this), ricepudding, would be worthwhile.

I think you have physical stomach issues at the moment which are causing issues, and I wonder if there were certain foods that were better. Or if fluids helped.

I had a third point but i cannot remember it. I shall return!

Oh: potassium rich foods: baked potatoes, apricots, squash, youghurt, spinach, fish, advocado, mushroom, banannas.

Maybe you could try some yogurts, dairy free if needs be. They shouldn't be too harsh on your stomach.

I'm proud of you Katy, well done, I hope you can keep it up. It's good you're wanting to get some food into you and help yourself while you're so ill, even though it is challenging.

BRAT is good for when you're unwell, as mentioned above. When I was last ill I started on solids again with toast and vegemite, I think there's a UK version of it? It's full of good things, I can't recall what exactly but maybe iron!

Have to admit if vegemite is anything akin to marmite that won't be happening as hate it but everything else will give a try and thanks for everybody's support <3

Might try some eggs if feel like I can (don't want to waste money haven't bought any yet) as they're fairly soft and have good stuff in them I think.

Back on the soup and where possible bit of bread regime again -_- Everything else just makes me chuck up, and even the soup and bread can sometimes be a debatable point. The only thing I haven't yet tried is eggs so may make myself go to the shop and get some tomorrow and see how my stupid stomach deals with those.

I'm sorry things are helping.

Would snacking on nuts, seeds and dried fruit be a possibility.

Is it the fluid nature of food or the eating that is hard? Sometimes I find drinkable foods easier when my stomach is playing up but chewing knocks my stomach. Whereas other times fluids just make me more nauseous but eating isn't too bad.

I find fluid-type foods a lot easier, even solid foods that I love aren't working atm and bread only works if soaked in soup or whatever. Tried an egg, didn't go down but will try again.

Hey Katie, I've been ill for the past week and have also lost my appetite so I can relate to how you are feeling. I have been drinking yogurt drinks like YOP (the raspberry one) as well as some yazoo milkshake as I don't like milk (the choccy one is nice). I've also been making smoothies adding honey and frozen yogurt, oats etc. small amounts of different foods may help? Even if it's just a couple of mouthfuls, how about cous cous and salad? Chickpeas? Cereal bars?
Hope you feel back to normal soon, i know it sucks! Xx
