I've already given into the urge to hurt myself once today. it helped...a little bit, but now I want to do it again. Even though I mainly hit, I am having urges to cut, even though I haven't done that in a long time.

I've been trying distractions but they aren't working.

I am currently:

I have a big distractions page written out (maybe you can write yourself a huge list to look at when these urges appear), but I sometimes find it difficult to use, so when I find it hard to distract myself I sometimes curl up in bed and listen to music. Can you phone or visit someone?

Well done, that's excellent!

I have a 'recovery' book where I write down my achievements, perhaps it might be helpful for you to note down your achievements somewhere so if you are going through a tough time, you can look at the book (or whatever) and see the steps you have made when you have felt more positive.

I'm just sending out my thoughts to you Celticroots. How are you feeling today? Acknowledging all of your achievements sounds like a really good idea, it can be hugely beneficial and you deserve to remind yourself of all that you've done, and to be happy and proud of it :)
