Medication Question - sickness with fluoxetine
im trying Fluoxetine in my treatment plan for the third time starting yesterday. the reason i have been on and off it so much is because although it relieves my depressive symptoms it also makes me feel sick.
Has anyone else ever had this problem with fluoxetine?
this is really my last chnce at anti depressants because over the past 6 yrs i have tried almost all of them! xx

heya fluoxitine has a common side effect of nausea - i was prescribed it a few years ago and was taken off it fairly quickly as the nausea became very problematic. However, it will pass as ure system gets more used to it. If it really is becoming troublesome, speak to ure dr and maybe they can give u something to combat it.
take care

Like Lil'misslala said, could you talk to your GP about anti-sickness drugs?
Also, how long have you been on Fluoxetine before?
I had nausea (but not very badly) after i started it but it wore off after a few weeks.
Take care *hugs*

My doc told me to help lessen the chance of nausea it's best to take teh tablets with food or a drink and some fruit, something to line your stomach first.

See I cannot feel this, not matter how you try and in the real world, there's no goodbyes.

I would speak with your doctor about anti-sickness tablets. If they are reluctant to do that, I would try taking it with food, or right before you go to sleep. That way you'll be asleep during the worst part of the nausea.

Well it breaks my heart to see you this way,
The beauty in life, where's it gone?
And somebody told me you were doing okay,
Somehow I guess they were wrong.

i nnever felt sick when i was taking it. However there are litterally hundreds of antidepressants out there, loads of SSRI's (the same group as fluoxetine) so if you get side effects then theres no need to keep trying with the same one. I went from fluoxetine to paroxetine, mainly as you need half the dosage on paroxetine and i was on a higher dose. But it is a similar drug - you might not get the same side effects. Try asking ure GP xxxxxxxx
