Triggering (Sexual Abuse) - Sexual abuse?

Ok so the woman i see for my eating disorder gave me a book to read beens she is away for a while. I flicked to the chapter 'the wounds of childhood' and it started talkng about sexual abuse. I have never classed myself as being sexually abused really. But it gave a list of things that would be classed as being sexually abused.

- Cuddled or kissed in a way that left you feeling uncomfortable
- bathed in a way that made you feel uneasy
- made to watch sexual acts or look at other people's genitals
- shown sexual films or videos, or being forced to listen to sexual talk
- made to pose for sexual photographs
- touched on breasts or genitals
- made to touch an adult person's genitals
- made to have oral sex
- penetrated (having the adult thrust a finger, his penis, or an object inside the vagina or anus)
- raped (penetrated using force of violence)

i copied that straight out of the book, so sorry if any terms seem a bit triggering or something, thats why i put the label on it.

But anyway, would you all class all these things as examples of sexual abuse?

reading this made me feel really uncomfortable because it makes out i have been sexually abused.

any thoughts?

I think part of this, like the DSM IV and ICD, is that some are very much down to context and interpretation, whilst others are undisputed (ie rape). Would be worth talking about it to someone, even just a one off session to put at ease your feelings over the definitions as it were.

im not sure how to think, i can tick off practically all of those, but ive never thought of it as being sexual abuse, i mean i know that sounds stupid but. everything in this area is so unclear, some things ive tried to convince myself for so long never happened that im not sure what is real and whats not anymore. Especially when it comes to the last two.

to all other people I would class all of them as sexual abuse but to myself I don't..>.<

judging by your comment on the last two you feel those apply to you?
honey, unless it happened with another child, those are undoubtably sexual abuse. if an adult entered you like that, with a finger or with himself, he abused you, or raped you.

*hugs* i know what you mean by not knowing what to think, not wanting to say its abuse or not considering it abuse.

To me, all of those except the top two are definite sexual abuse unless they happened with another minor. The top two are up for your interpriation.

Look at it this way. If I said someone had done those things to me, would you tell me it was wrong? Treat yourself the same...

i think as other people have said most of them are put down to sexual abuse. to me it's kind of hard to explain i my self have been through one or two of those things. xxx
