What do you tie your hair back with?

I just asked my friend for a hair bobble and she brought one and was all like "is this what you mean?" because apparently it's called a hair tie. Which do you say? Is this perhaps a regional thing?

A bobble is how you explained it a peice of elastic to put hair up with.

I'd say a hair tie is like ribbon and such like not stretchy

I've never heard the term hair bobble before.

Hair ties all the way! And yes, they are elastic!

Booble.

Am from up north. When I moved to Yorkshire I said my hair was tatty (knotted) and that caused confusion!

Hair bobble! I would think of a hair tie as a thing you actually tie..

A bobble, I've heard beauty Youtubers say hair tie, I presumed it was more of an American thing.

Not to thread hijack but on a related note, what do you call this?

Oh god I want to hear you say,
I want to hear you say that you were wrong again

Hair tie, or a hair elastic. I've also heard people call it hairband(I used to have very long hair and was a long hair enthusiast). Have never heard of the term 'hair bobble'.

Also, as epic said, there is such a thing as a scrunchie.

ETA: I thought 'hair elastic' was an American thing?

I call that a bobby pin.(again, I assume this might be American, as I picked it up from a long hair forum whose members were mostly American)

Sentient Treacle: that's a hair grip

There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: 'This glass is half full'. And then there are those who say: 'This glass is half empty'.
The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: 'What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

The hair grip I call a kirby.

My hair is too short to do anything elaborate, but I sometimes wear it in two little bunches with bobbles or I pin what there is of it up. Today it is pined up with hair grips with fish and ducks on them, contrasting with my new purple hair. I got fed up with pink.

I call it a hairband - which no one appears to have mentioned here about from Lucy! I also call those big puffy hair bands scrunchies.

Have you ever looked fear in the face and said "I just don't care"?

See to me, this is a hairband:

I agree with mikey! Do you remember those velvety hairbands that you could get your name put on? Them were the days.

From what I know of the people voting, it looks like bobble might be a northern thing and hairband could be Welsh?

My friend who I mentioned in the original post is not on RYL but knows about it and is threatening to make ten accounts just so she can vote for elastic ten times because she does not approve of the current poll results :P

Also, I now call that hairgrip a bobby pin, but I picked that up from someone fairly recently and I can't remember what I used to call it.

No other sadness in the world would do

I have never actually heard anyone here call it a hairband though(I've only seen this term used online).

Does seem like bobble is northern!
