Cache Mental Health

Hi All

I am just letting you all know that I have completed 3/5 modules for my Cache Level 2 Course in Mental Health for children and young people. I started some ago in July and it's almost completed and I have been doing these free courses (due to income) to keep myself occupied while I am on long term sick and while I am waiting for my degree to start.

Whichever option do I decide or I have to take?

Social Work Full Time
Psychology with a distance learning provider. (Derby)

Have you ever confused a dream with life? Or stolen something when you have the cash? Have you ever been blue? Or thought your train moving while sitting still? Maybe I was just crazy. Maybe it was the 60's. Or maybe I was just a girl... interrupted.
I know what it's like to want to die. How it hurts to smile. How you try to fit in but you can't. How you hurt yourself on the outside to try to kill the thing on the inside. I tried groups, didn't work out just made my depression a lot worse.

What are your pros and cons for each? It’s very hard for anyone to tell you which would be best but we can help you explore the pros and cons

You have made a very similar topic before about whether to go for Psychology or social work. Perhaps going through your previous post will answer your question as there was a lot of useful advice.

Here is the thread

In addition in this thread http://www.recoveryourlife.com/forum...d.php?t=256105 you mentioned that you were feeling very positive about Derby. What, if anything, changed your mind?

They are different courses too, the health and social care degree is very generalized and leads to lots of areas but I am deciding against as the main social work degree had long term potential as its official social work training degree and the other one h+sc would lead to further study afterward which may not work for my current predicament with the student finance England.
Psychology although it's with university of derby, it's just for backup purposes because it's distance learning. I didn't have the best experience with the OU.

Thanks for clarifying. Good luck with what you decide.

I have also realised that the University of Essex has really got a reputation for social workers and many have gone to work for the local council, NHS and in various government departments which is what I'm ultimately hoping to do.
What is making feel lots better is that my (brother's long term partner works in one of the areas I wish to go in and I hoping her company can take me on as internship as part of the course.

I am also now at a stage where I have really organised myself in terms of my mac, got myself a new desk and finally sorting out the clutter. it's all happened on top of the new kitchen that's being built from tomorrow.

It's also fabulous as my dad is taking some time off work while the kitchen is being done and he's not driving 30 miles to Kent every day for Dial A Ride job. I want my dad to be a lot happier. :)
