Consultant sent me to hospital again.
Just got back.
They did 2 ECGs. Did some weird test to see if the muscles in my legs work (they kind of do) and then got sent back to the ward.
I warned them it was a waste of time!
I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!
So when you don't eat and drink, your body essentially starts to feed on your organs. One of the first ones is your heart muscle and it weakens your heart. On top of electrolyte imbalances it can be very, very dangerous. I know people who have had heart attacks and other permanent heart damage from not eating. I was lucky in that the damage that I had reversed itself once I ate again. These are very real and serious concerns. I'm not trying to say that to scare you, more so just to say that their reactions and actions sound logical based on the information you are telling us.

Is there a nurse or someone you can ask? Or could you ask your mum? I know you said you didn't want her worrying but now that she's aware of what is going on maybe they told her?

I'm kind of looking forward to seeing my mum tomorrow but also dreading it because she'll ask about things and I don't want to talk about it.
She is so worried and I want to reassure her but I can't

I think I'm doing better
I am now drinking fluids and the fortisip drinks.
It feels very uncomfortable though and I'm not sure I want to continue with it
But I'll never get home if I don't start drinking and eating
Its hard.

I'm really glad you are drinking and having the fortisips. You will definitely feel physically pretty uncomfortable for a while. But it really does wear off in time but only IF YOU KEEP DRINKING. Basically your muscles in your stomach and intestines have weakened, and are not used to being used. So they have to get moving again and readjust. Sort of similar to how if you aren't used to exercising and you start exercising you get sore for a while at first.
The uncomfortable feelings suck and are hard to deal with. Hot water bottles can help if that is a thing they will let you have. I hope ECT goes well for you.

I'm tempted to stop drinking again because I feel really awful mentally as well as physically after drinking stuff. It feels like I've had too much even though realistically I haven't.
But I do want to get out of here.

Yea, it sucks and it feels awful both physically and mentally. BUT IT WILL PASS. It's just as I constantly got told when I was in treatment, the only way to make it pass is to keep doing it and get through it. It's a really crappy catch 22 unfortunately.
Are you still on 1:1? I know we weren't allowed hot water bottles but what a nurse did for me was heat up some damp wash clothes in a microwave and then sort of make a wrap that I could use as an alternative.
