Quilt / duvet fillings

What are your favourite fillings for your bed time comfiness?

I'm looking for something kind of soft and bunchy!

I'm a really big fan of duck feather & down. I got mine from IKEA because they seem to be a bit cheaper than a lot of other places. I find that they're much warmer duvets so you only need a low tog - I have a 7.5 and it's much too warm for summer so I use a 4 tog cheapie from Asda that I use then. I kinda want a nice bedspread to go over the top when it's a little too cold in winter because sometimes the 7.5 just isn't enough.

As for why I like them, they just fall really nicely and you can squish them up and manipulate them into the comfiest position for yourself. They provide warmth without too much bulk (I seriously hate those polyester quilts that bury you in duvet).

I don't have a particular favourite duvet or anything but I love a nice cold pillow.

I prefer snugly snooshy stuff Irene and like you I also like having the feel of weight on me with my blankets.

I will check out the ikea ones but I think I actually like the bulk and being buried in my duvet!

Carmen thank you :) I have one dog so I'll need to improve and get more :)

I have whatever filling is in my duvet! I think it's an Asda one. A really light, summer tog. I'd like to fill my bed with dogs, so if anyone wants to send me a cuddly puppy feel free! Or a purry cat.

I'm sleeping under a snowflake blanket in hopes that the weather will get the hint already.

But I prefer goose down for my winter duvets.

Irene thank you! I've been doing some research and I definitely need one that has the filling pocketed into squares - the problem with my current one is I don't have that so it goes very limp in some areas! The long tube of that idea is interesting...who knew you knew so much about this!

I'll research those types :)

I have an electric blanket under me keeping me snug :3

Ama good luck with the snow flake x

Thanks Aimee :p

I have also never mastered the art of putting my duvet in its cover. Single ones I can just about manage, though my duvet will still be lumpy in places. But when I have to change double duvet covers I just get lost in the material! Thankfully my boyfriend is a whiz at doing it and has some weird method that he uses. I think it involves turning the cover inside out and rolling it down the duvet like putting on a sock or something.

Oh wow, that is so cool! I put the cover inside out, go inside and grab the corners from the inside, then grab the corners of the duvet and shake. Your way looks much better!

There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: 'This glass is half full'. And then there are those who say: 'This glass is half empty'.
The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: 'What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!
