A 10-year-old girl's attempt to sell her grandmother on eBay has been thwarted - because the internet auction firm regarded it as human trafficking.
Zoe Pemberton advertised her grandmother Marion Goodall, 61, of Clacton, Essex, on internet auction site eBay.
The youngster described Mrs Goodall as "annoying" but "cuddly" in her joke listing.
But eBay bosses removed the advertisement because the site does not allow humans to be bought and sold.
"Obviously we have rules about the selling of people," said an eBay spokeswoman.
"We had to take it down but it was quite amusing and there were a number of offers.
"The little girl had described her grandmother as 'annoying' but had gone on to say she liked crosswords and was 'cuddly' and there were quite a few offers."
The spokeswoman added: "The advert was obviously light-hearted and had been done with the full knowledge of grandma - we do get these kind of things from time to time."
I was going to put this in News and Debate, feel free to move it. I just thought it was a bit random XD
This made me giggle. And got me thinking, what's the weirdest thing you've seen on Ebay?
I once saw an ordinary pound coin for sale, and someone had bid £1.21 for it, which was a bit bizarre.
Now I'll play your ghost as my ace, whenever I'm led astray.
But I am actually good, can't help it if we're tilted.
I'm in my right place, don't be a downer.
Aw. Haha. I'd never want to sell my Grandma. She is far to awesome to be sold.
Let's put a smile on that face
We are not alone
Find out when your cover's blown
There'll be somebody there to break your fall
We are not alone
'Cause when you cut down to the bone
We're really not so different after all
This is rubbish. I tried to sell my brother as a slave child yonks ago.
My parents actually paid to take it off... The reserve was like 9 million pounds so I don't get why...
The world is just illusion always trying to change me.
You will find wonder wherever you can, and spread joy whenever you are able.
I felt emotions of gentleness and pleasure, that had long appeared dead, divide within me. - Frankenstein.
lol i read about that earlier. A few years ago when i was in year 10 the years 11's put my secondary school on ebay as prank. The teachers were not happy with it lol. We all found it amusing lol .....
when i fall, no one catch me alone lonely, i'll overdose slowly
get scared, i'll scream and shout
but you know it wont matter she'll be passing out
I think it was around the time of Liveaid that air guitars were put on it. People got a certificate of ownership or something, and all the money went to the Liveaid charity fund thingy :)
x.
"I walked home alone that night. I didn't care how she got home, it was weird. I mean, I *liked* her, I liked her A LOT...but out there on the field, it was just different then. That was the last time I saw her. I mean, most people don't taste that kind of love- at least I tasted it once, right?"
I've seen nothing on sale for ebay :) i think the bids were at £5 or something lol oh and someone drew a (bad) picture on paint n it sold for £20 (you didnt even get a print out, just the save as option from auction pic!)
