If i'm honest i don't think the programme actually looked that well at different conditions, its just seemed to be a general overview especially with beth - it just didn't seem to tell me anything about anorexia or how it affected her. Especially because in the first episode she is shown to be well and not very ill but in later episodes that changes.
I dont know but it didnt make me go wow and learn anything about other conditions.
"Its not how long a star shines, what is remembered is the brightness of the light"
If I remember correctly the purpose of it was to show what it's like to be a child on a psych ward. Rather than focusing deeply on the conditions they were suffering from.
'Cause I'll always remember you the same.
Oh eyes like wild flowers within demons of change ♥
just an update for those who want to hear it, Beth is doing really well, he weight is stable and is getting a lot of help with her eating disorder, she has gone back to school and is settling in well.
Gill is back in hospital at another ward in bury after ODing, she ran away with two other patients whilst there but came back fine, she is doing reasonably okay in hospital and is looking at discharge to a care placement very soon :) x

Amazing news, thanks for sharing this. Are you in contact with them directly? Do you happen to know how they feel about having been a part of the programme (whether they regret it / think it was a good thing etc)?

“The only way that we can live is if we grow. The only way we can grow is if we change. The only way we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we are exposed is if we throw ourselves into the open.”
There are people out in the world who don't know that there are eating disorder units or children's mental health units. When I became ill and entered the services in 1997 I didn't know that ED units existed etc so to me the programme was more about educating about the place and what it did more than educating an illness.

THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN
AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE
There will be more documentaries as part of bbc3's mad world season. If I remember correctly there's a programme about bipolar and adolescents with OCD.
Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…
you once called your brain a hard drive, well say hello to the virus.
