Going to A & E for mental health problems?

I'm curious: what happens when someone goes to A & E because of MH problems, especially suicidal ideation?

that depends on which area you are in, how you present, which staff are on, what time of day it is, how busy they are and a whole host of other factors. It seems to be different for everyone.

What are some experiences people have had?

Go in and get triaged by the general nurse, then have to wait to see the psych team on duty. They'll talk to you an assess what help you'll need.
There can be multiple outcomes.
You could just be sent home, be sent home but with crisis team input, contact your CPN/CC if you have one.
In extreme cases they could admit you to hosptial but they don't really like doing that and it's unlikely that they'll force you to go.

That's my experience anyway.
