Depends a lot on your age. But mainly they will ask you some questions like what kind of support you get, why your feeling the way you are, if you have made plans ect.
Then depending on how you feel and your risk factor, they usual make sure that you have some suport in place to help you, or else offer some alternatives such as ip or staying with relaives ect. It really depends how much you feel that you are at risk. It can also depend upon your age.

Ok it depends what you've taken and how much.

When you go in, you sign in at reception and one of the triage nurses will take you through. They'll want to know the basics- what, how many, when, weight etc and probably do bloods. Even if u believe its harmless, they'll do it any way 2 b safe. They'll then adminster any necessary physical treatment. This again depends on the things above and also how long ago u swallowed it. Most common thing they've done physically is to induce vomiting 2 start with and I think thats pretty standard in most cases unless its not serious. The doctor will usually ask questions 2 assess yr mental state 2- 2 make sure they can leave u alone, yr nt gunu try and hurt yrself again.

Every time I've been admitted 4 self harm of any sort, b that cuts or drugs or woteva, they haven't let me leave until I've been assessed by a liason psychiatrist. However I know of people where they've been short staffed or whatever who have been just allowed 2 go. Put it this way, it is good practise not 2 let u leave until a specialist psych/CPN has seen u.

A letter will normally b sent 2 yr GP/ mental health team following any presentation with self harm by either the liason psych or the doctor who treats u from A and E.

Hope this helps.

It might be a good idea to go in and tell them you are feeling unsafe. I know you said you didn't like the psych you saw last time but it will more than likely be a different psych doctor this time, although obviously I can't say for definate. As it will be an on-call Doctor though it probably will be someone different.
Sometimes just getting yourself out of the situation where you feel unsafe can be good and going to Casualty may help, because you will be able to talk things through & see where to go through there.
Good Luck =]

If you feel unsafe then A&E is prob a good idea. Even if its only gets you out of the situation and gives you somewhere to talk about whats going on. Always beeter safe than sorry.

Do u have a crisis number that the 16-19 service gave u? Where I live, the CMHT provide a 24hr treatment program. Basically u call this number out of hours if you're having a mh emergency like yr feeling unsafe and they can come and cu and arrange an emergency appointment. Its jst a thought as an alternative 2 A ane E. Otherwise, I;d recommend u go 2 AandE. Its so much better than tryin 2 struggle on yr own
