Uni and points to get in

If this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it. Sorry i'm still getting used to it!

anyways, just a question about ucas points and getting into uni.
I need 280 points to get in (DMU leics =] ) .
and there's no way in hell i'm going to reach that. Seriously not prepared.
So i was just wondering if anyone had any idea on how lenient uni's tend to be on points?
Or, if theres any chance if i speak to the uni they'll lower it?
I vaguely remember a friend applying somewhere through ucas, and once speaking to them they said they'd lower their offer if they applied directly or something like that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated =D xxx

well I got in with less points that were required... then again I did also get in through clearing and had a "valid" reason for my poor grades...

best advise I think is for you to sit the exams, do as well as you can, and worry about this once you get your results

It depends on the uni really, in terms of how lenient they are. They generally do let you off 10 points or so, but as I said, it depends on the university. Do you do General Studies? They look at the score you got for that sometimes, if you fall short.

Sit your exams and do your best. I'm sure you'll do fine =]

I got in short of my grade, but only because my college lost my coursework so I failed a module :/ thankfully it wasn't an important one.
But I had been in contact with the uni admissions officer, which possibly helped my case. I'd explained my situation and my mental health difficulties.
Some courses will let people in with lower grades if there is a low demand for the course.

Remind me the story that I won't get insane
Tell me why it's always the same
Explain me the reason why I'm so much in pain.

It depends on the uni and course! My uni is top of the league tables (well something like 8 down the list) and theres only 26 people doing my course (it's pretty specific) but I got let in and I got BCC instead of BBC (not sure how many points difference that is!).
Worst comes to the worst you can phone up and beg. What's your insurance choice? Good luck! xxx

Edit: I've never heard of uni's offering to lower it! This year it's going to be harder to get in (less spaces...or something). Your best bet is to work hard and wait and see.

Hindsight is a rather beautiful thing...
