In a similar vein, who discovered the smallpox vaccine (which was the world's first vaccine)? I thought the answer to this question was the answer to the above question but I was very wrong.
What is arguably the first novel ever published? (there are two answers to this)

Who discovered penicillin?
I thought it was "One Thousand and one Nights" at a guess, Google gave me the "Gutenberg Bible" in 1455.

I presume you meant 1719 for Crusoe!

The answer is either Morte D'Arthur or Robinson Crusoe. Depending on who you talk to.
Marlon Brando played Vito Corleone!
Ok.. So seen as I'm being a massive literature geek... What does novel actually mean?
I assumed just like some writing about something that isn't real that is more than a few pages so I googled it and it said "a fictitious prose narrative of book length, typically representing character and action with some degree of realism".
Name the three countries in the world beginning with J.
The original meaning of novel is actually New Story. When applied to books it's original meaning was 'a novelty, a piece of news'
Japan, Jamaica and Jordan. Technically Jersey can be included too if you wanted, but I presumed you meant countries that are 'independant' so to speak.
And Jenna you gave me the idea for the next question and I apologise for the book geekery (tis the side effect of a literature degree) I promise this is the last one on literature!
What exactly is the difference between a novella and a novel?

My guess would've been that a novella is shorter. Google informs me that a novella is an 'Italian-styled fictional prose narrative writing. It can involve multiple sub-plots, twists and characters. However, it is basically written with a satirical, moral or educational nature and purpose. A novella is usually maintained within the words limit of 17,000 words to 40,000 words.'
Okay, what is the mitral valve and why does it have that name?
There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: 'This glass is half full'. And then there are those who say: 'This glass is half empty'.
The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: 'What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!
One of the valves in the heart that stops blood from travelling between chambers? Ah yes between the left atrium and ventricle, and it's called the mitral valve because it's shaped like a mitre which I knew belonged to a bishop. I was confused about whether that was his hat or his stick and I then found out it was his hat!
Robert Louis Stephenson and the Duke of Wellington have been depicted on which denomination of bank note?

What band does the ex-drummer of the band Nirvana now front? (I've made this deliberately complicated!)

The furthest back I can find is the Latin word "Burra" Meaning Nonsense , trifle and literally "Flock of wool" .
The French 16th century of the actual word Burlesque is "derisive imitation, grotesque parody"
Thank You Google :)
