Your knuckle would be swollen, often bruised, you'd have trouble moving your finger/that joint and possibly the ones further down your finger, you'd usually be in a lot of pain, can have reduced feeling in the rest of your finger or thumb past it. The tip of your finger could also be cold/discoloured. If you're in doubt go to a+e or a Minor Injuries unit and get it looked at
