Positive recovery post - Tattoos to cover scars
It's been almost 9 years since I last self-harmed :D
I've had a tattoo to cover the scars on my thigh already and the tattooist knew it was SH. Thankfully, he didn't judge me because he said that it's very common for people to come to him because of SH.
That was 6 years ago and I'm so happy with the result that I've made an appointment to get the scars on my chest tattooed over.
I'm doing it because I want to put the past behind me.

Very well done with your progress. I'm glad you've had a good experience with getting a tattoo and I hope getting another tattoo helps you continue with things positively.

I got the tattoo done and I'm really happy with it. Yesterday, I was half-naked in the changing room when another guy came in and started talking to me. Previously, I would've hastily put a top on and hope he hadn't seen the scars but, for the first time in years, I could take my time and act normally :D

That's great! I'd like to get a tattoo also. Glad you're happy with yours :) If you don't mind me asking, how did you settle on an artist?

I read reviews for local ones and settled for the most popular one, even though it took me months to get an appointment with him. Don't worry about the artist seeing scars: more than one artist have told me that loads of people present with scars they want covering. Judging from the ones I've met, tattoo artists seem like a generally open-minded bunch.

Glad it's gone well I've covered up some scars (not all but some at least) with tattoos so brill :)
