I understand, it can become a bad habit and you end up self harming 'just because.' When you feel like self harming can you try to take some time to figure out why? Maybe you're bored, and in that case you could make a list of alternative things to do. Without self harm in your life you would still be you. In fact, you would probably be able to see more of yourself and build on your positive traits. I know that it's really difficult to stop self harming but it's not impossible.
