I thought Kerry was a troll. Or at least acted like one.
Lol I know what you mean. When she was young her sigs and whole vibe seemed so stereotypically teenish I wondered if she someone was pretending to be one.

It is quite strange thinking about all of these people once again. Mind you I was never much of a poster or all that popular so I doubt I'd have been remembered. But so many of these people truly -deserve- to be remembered. They weren't popular for any reason other than being good people who put themselves out there and (in my opinion) helped a lot of us. I wonder how they all are these days.
This thread made me feel nostalgic and terribly old.
Same.
I just worked out that I've been around since I was about 14; lurking on Ruin and eventually joining up on v2. I've spent a third of my life on this site
For those doubts that swirl all around us
For those lives that tear at the seams
We know… we’re not what we’ve seen
For this dance we’ll move with each other
There ain’t no other step than one foot
Right in front of the other

I think its true that its good to remember people. A lot of young people here found themselves stuck in some dark corners at times when they should have been more carefree. The way many of them shinned brighter was always the most memorable thing about the the people here.
I've been used to people leaving for awhile. A more notable event for me was a member who has been here a year recently asking ' Who is Harley?" lol.

Oh Aimee :( I keep trying to track her down but with little luck; did hear from her within the last year though she seemed okay. I miss her heaps she was wonderful.
And abi. She is amazing hope she's well. I guess not being here is a good sign in that direction :p
I've been around since 2002 and while I no longer SI, I still pop in from time to time to see who's around and to catch up with familiar faces. I was an adult when I joined and many of the old timers were kids so it's amazing to see what their life is like now as far as education, family etc. I remember just about everyone (it seems like) from the original Ruin Your Life as there was only about 500 of us..I wonder what's happened to those that have left and moved on. <3

Reason: Spelling error
If you don't have what you wantthen want what you have.
I was thinking about Emma (Belle) a coupla days ago. I know she didn't leave in good graces, but she was pretty key to the site for quite a long time, and crazy smart. I do sometimes wonder how she's doing.

I was recently thinking about Caz (not-so-hot-chocolate was one of her user names), Josh (caru y nos) and sarah (timeslikethese) I hope they are doing well.
Then wear the gold hat, if that will move her;
If you can bounce high, bounce for her too,
Till she cry "Lover, gold-hatted, high-bouncing lover,
I must have you!"

Here is an audio file of a Sky News television spot about RYL and SI sites. I think its from about 2005-7. It has some graphic discussion but nothing too bad. Also triggering for posh accents..
Gosh, does anyone remember when Harley was on the radio, and heaps of us were listening to it and commenting on the thread about what was going on? It moved so fast and it felt so... community-ey, that we were all there.

A key thing about RYL from the years I first joined (2003 - 2006) was that RYL was a dynamic and successful site. Even if kids felt they were failing in life - they felt encouraged by belonging to a site that was becoming successful and somewhat famous as websites go. Not a lot of sites were being covered in BBC, Sky News and showing up in documentaries on C4.
