@ Claire: I'm seeing Southampton again on the 25th which will be the decider...
@ Chels: Southampton just felt RIGHT for me aswell... and they also seem to be the uni which puts the most effort into welcoming students (the free DVDs them bombarded me with e.t.c)
i'm not at uni but i know people who i work with that went to Southampton and said its fab there.
" my precious, precious child, I love you and I would never, never leave you during your times of trials and suffering. When you see only one set of footprints it was then that I carried you" you were carried out of are lifes into the next and when its my time to leave this life I know i will be carried into the next life with you.
I wish i had my world complete again.

Also, when you chose your halls, put down for Glen Eyre over Wessex Lane. Depending on how much you want to pay, I can tell you which ones are best etc.
Chels: Yep i'm having serious problems deciding between Glen Eyres and Wessex Lane.
I'm looking to go self-catered, Ensuite... Wessex lane is rather cheap (comparatively) and has a gym supposidly.... but I haven;t been there in person...
However, I did go to Glen Eyres and compared to other uni's accomodation it looked pretty weak....
Your opinion would be very much welcome =]
Oh and I have a huge sense of deja vu from the first two paragraphs (more the sentance structure than the content).... odd!
Glen Eyre also has a gym, but both the hall ones are crap.
At Glen Eyre you're 15 minutes (TOPS) from the main campus (if you're at the furthest away point) which means a 15 minute walk to the main gym. Wessex lane you're about 20 minutes/a crammed bus ride away.
I lived in Hartley Grove (part of Glen Eyre, but on the other side of the road). It was brilliant because there were three blocks in their own little bit, so you had a really good community feel because everyone knew more or less everyone else (which you don't get with Wessex or Glen Eyre Main), and Hartley has their own washers/dryers so you're not in a massive massive queue, plus common room and vending machine. AND each flat has it's own post-box (sounds little but in some places you don't have a post-box so have to go to reception every day just to see if you have post, let alone pick it up!). But you're only a 2 minute walk from the main Glen Eyre reception (i.e. to pick up parcels etc), shop (run out of milk/loo roll etc). Hartley also has it's own bus stop.
I really can't recommend Hartley enough.
Plus with Glen Eyre, you have A LOT of green space for BBQs in summer/footie/sunbathing/smoking weed.
Seriously, you should come down for a day/night (I'll take you out too!) and I'll show you around, take you into the flats/get my friends from Wessex to tell you what that's like etc, as obviously I don't know as much about that..
That sounds really good
Was Glen Eyre your first choice then?
What kind of room did you have?
I liked Glen Eyre's location and openess, but the rooms were pretty tiny in comparison to other uni's, but I didn;t really see anything to compare them to at Southampton
And i'd like to come down to visit at somepoint ... when I have money to get down there that is
I need to cut down on my spending until I can get a job/drive
I was en suite self catered. The room I had was pretty big. Long and thin, rather than square. You could get 6 people in comfortably on film nights etc.
