Deconstruct
Pieces small and fragile
Held like ancient butterflies
In a nest so easily destroyed

So many layers have been torn away
Reshaped to become myself
Like the taking and leaving of gifts
By the waves

Is this never ending?
The ebb and flow
Of bitter tears and smiles
Laughter
Fear
As what we know is ripped away

Returning in time
Like the changing of seasons

When will this inferno end
Eternal
It's scars the bones
For life

Both of these made me think. "held like ancient butterflies...in a nest so easily destroyed." is my favorite line. It has a haiku-like feel to it.

Thanks for your comments . It's been far too long since I wrote on here. This is something I wrote tonight. It's been a tough day; perhaps these words can bring some peace...

This is the Devil's playground
The place where I have come to dance
No roses bloom beneath my feet
And the air is frozen on my breath as I
Walk forward into blackness

This is a place of hatred
Beauty has no place
And the path lies naked and cold
In this field of famine there is only pain
And no salvation
In the pity of others
Who see not what I see

What would be left
If this were to end?
Brutality shines clear upon your surface

Beneath it
Life
Or imperfection. Everything unravels

And I am left trying
To hold the pieces together

I used to be frightened of bones;
Infinites; corners; certainty; clear edges
But as I see the bones protrude
Hips; ribs; knees; the stubborn jutting of a collarbone
As the beast comes out to play
Baring me like a bleached skeleton
Dancing upon your grave

Fools!
I'm not dead yet
I'll keep swallowing this bitter poison
Drop by bitter drop
But for my angular comfort
Who brings me my dreams in a silver cup
But shame and bitterness mingle

And I do not know who to follow
I am your master;
Your muse
The shell you will leave behind
Whatever your end

Flesh; "fat"
Sometimes weariness.
Bones and shadow as
He digs deeper
Every mouthful chokes; every moment
Always checking
Perfection
Elusive, exotic as she dances
Beyond my fingertips
Tomorrow I will try
Harder
If I have the strength
I will try harder

Hate becomes me;
Skin, bones, sinew

It is the blood running through my veins
The poisoned apple rotting hope
It is the bad dream which keeps me from sleeping
But never leaves

He is always present
In every breath
Picking clean the bones
Like a bitter old crow
There is always something for him to
Feast on
He never leaves

Filth
That's what food turns me into
Scrubbing and scrubbing,
But the hunger is never enough
To make it go away

And you are never perfect
He makes sure of that
But still you reach
Catching at the wind
As he taunts you
Like the iron words above Auschwitz

"Work will set you free"
But it's never enough
And you will never be enough

Scrape away flesh, muscles
Anything that can be worn away
Striving for your own
Mirror image
One of which you can be proud

But for now it's not enough
Tomorrow you will be better
Tomorrow you will find control
Tomorrow you will sip your water and
Pick at your flesh without complaint
For bread is too good for you

He sits in the cold
Half light,
Cutting the pieces smaller and smaller
Every day is less
His laughter keeps me warm
And I feel free, fingers stroking the fine bones
As they bloom,
White and honest
I grow
As the light changes
And feel my way,
Stronger for the loss of my sight

He deftly scribbles notes
And with the ease of a seamstress
Draws the tape tighter
Pinching edges;
Tapering, moudling as the bones rise up
Flesh eaten away
As hunger becomes something
More aluring
And I, his scribe

He picks and unpicks constantly,
Regarding her with constant scrutiny
As the bones rise to the surface

Fear
She is covered in it
Every morsel regarded
And abandoned as the flesh falls away
Never fast enough
As she moves though a dream world
Every doorway barred,
Every person an enemy who might take it away
If they knew

There is bliss as she fingers the bones
Their fragility is a strength and cover
She craves
And it is hers, but she wants
More
Just for her

She croons and rocks and
Promises
And finds there is a wholeness
To nothing

He sits
"Bird of prey"
Consuming my every thought
As I consume nothing and the aching
Grows less and less
And the cage, more prominent
You are still a prisoner inside this body
Remember that
