I am currently:
Need help deciding

Hi RYL friends,
I need some help deciding whether to go back to ECT or not. I went off ECT (again) thinking that this time I could be permanently off ECT (I was on a six-week maintenance schedule). But the depression is back, I'm having trouble thinking straight for my kids and my job, and now our landlord is upset about the cockroaches in our place and I am worried he will try to let us go, even though it isn't fully our fault. I get overwhelmed by the idea of another move - not that we can afford it.
I am worried that I won't be able to handle the stress in my life (there are other things) and my husband wants me to have ECT - but I am worried about the side effects. I already don't remember a lot about the past decade of my kids' life. My primary psychiatrist is for ECT. But I just can't make up my mind.
Any help thinking through this mess is welcome! Thanks.

Life sounds hard right now, do you think a course of ECT would change the symptoms you're having at the moment? If it was able to do that then maybe your suffering would be resolved more quickly, albeit with side effects from the ECT. Whereas continuing like this without ECT might take you away from life for a longer time. How have you found ECT in the past? Are there any other treatments you might be able to try? I hope you can figure out what is best for you.

I hope the ECT goes well. Take care.
