hi, where is the "i want to erase my profile" button?

Hi, i use my phone to visit this site - and its display is quite small - so sometimes i have problems with finding the right buttons - i would expect to find "erase my profile" under the "edit my profile" option - but i cannot see it there - so.... IS THERE AN "i want to erase my profile" BUTTON ANYWHERE?

Where shall I look for it?

It's the 1st thing anybody should check, when they want to use a website with personal infornation, am I right?
:)
Do not be afraid to tell me there is no such button here - I just want to know how to use this site & what to think about how the website is made. ..

You can delete your own posts if you don't want them to be visible. I think for your profile to be deleted you'd have to PM a mod but things have changed a lot around here and it's very quiet. If your profile was deleted I think your posts would remain so if you're uncomfortable with anything you'd have to delete them yourself.

I hope I've not just talked nonsense there.

Thanks a lot.
Well, it is quite possible, that I have said something stupid - but unfortunately I am usually completely unaware until someone tells me directly.

I just wanted to know if it is possible to erase the whole profile... You have confirmed to me that to erase the profile would be quite complicated. Thanks. Your answer has helped me...

Your profile only shows things that you put on there, so if you want to stay anonymous, don't fill out your profile.

Or do you mean delete your profile as in delete your account?

Yes. Thanks. I meant the button which would delete the whole account. Thanks!

Ah, no I don't think there's a magic button that will do that.

You didn't say anything stupid at all, don't worry. It does seem kind of strange that there isn't an easier way to delete your account.

But I can imagine back when it was busy here when trolls were more prevalent that it would be something that could be abused easily? I don't know.

The last rule about deleting accounts stated that they have to be inactive for one year before they can be deleted. At which you would then have to contact the moderators to request it be deleted.

That would not delete your posts. Posts would need to be deleted by you individually.

In the past members have deleted all of their posts and then requested that the moderators change their username and passwords so that they no longer have access to the account.

If it is a situation that would warrant extenuating circumstances you would need to contact the moderators directly.

That was the policy a while ago but with there not being as many mods and the site being slower these days it could be different now.

You can't always keep it separate.
This is happening, this is part of you.

Thanks a lot for this explanation...

I have already found the link with answers to frequent questions...

I guess I should read it properly, but it is a bit too much info for me at once.

And anyway - thanks, your answer is much more detailed, I think.
