Cloverfield
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvNkGm8mxiM"]YouTube - The official Cloverfield trailer[/ame]
New film by JJ Abrahams of "lost" fame (though don't hold that against him)
Supposed to be a modern day monster movie with a brand new monster never before seen. It's all very hush hush about what it may be. Anyway i can't wait til it comes out here. Any thoughts?

Mmmm I've been looking forward to this for an age and it had better not be a let down. The trailer looks really good and I think it has the potential to be amazing.

I've heard talk that you may never see the monster full on. Which i think may be genius or possibly a rip off.

the hype may overshadow the film in the end. but i am excited about it. Drew Goddard (buffy the vampire slayer) wrote the script which is exciting to me.

my whole life has been. running with the wind. and playing with the cowards. it’s so hard to see. i’m fractured within. a poet in a window. we’re bastards and thieves. we’re lovers and saints. we’re holding on to mourning. and in the shadows i will be. until the sunlight melts away. until we tire of murder...fill me up with love...say goodbye when you leave. remember to breath. remember to listen. it’s getting harder to be. the son you want of me. the son i’ll never be.

Yeaaaah I know, it could turn into a Blaire Witch Project (bad in my opinion)
Or it could really, really work. The whole idea (not the witch) but the hand held camera and seeing everything from the first person view and not necessarily seeing the beast/monster was really unique and had they not chosen such a rubbish storyline it could have worked that time. I really hope it does this time, otherwise the hype would be all rubbish, not that that hasnt happened before!

There is a massive amount of hype over this movie. So of course I can't wait to see it. There's a ton of theories. All the characters have myspace page, theres hidden websites, it goes on. This is viral marketing at its very best.

Too many slip ups.

Heh I've never heard that word before, I like it.
So its sort of the idea of terror, sort of like the Kraken.
Stop making me excited!

Ok I didnt understand the full extent of what you were saying until I read the article today in this months Empire, its incredible!!! I cant believe how much hidden material there is and that there are people who actually go so far to find it all, it really is impressive (and slightly scary) and im looking forward to it even more now. They mentioned the cthulu in the article, its definitely a creature from the deep but thats the extent of the knowledge, theres a new trailer out as well i think.

I dont think it'd be cthulu =[
oh well
in the trailer i saw there is a huge "thing" terrorising the city, but then i also saw footage of a woman and two monster things sillhouetted against a plastic sheet, one of them attacks and blood gets splatted onto the plastic. they looked like bipedal smilodons.
JJ sure knows how to keep secrets -nods- and i guess if any real information got leaked people would just get it confused with the viral marketing thingy.
you know what would be hugely crappy yet kinda cool in an anti-climactic way? if at the end of the movie you see a hatch door open and all the characters from Lost climb out... there was a rumour about that happening hehe

CLOVERFIELD!!
I'm going to the premiere on Thursday night (technically Friday.) I have class the next morning, but I'll be so hyped-up that I probably won't be that tired, but exhausted. It's going to be amazing.
Anyone else going Thursday night?
