I'd be in a very bad mood in your position. Did your day improve at all?

No. It got worse.
I'm still in a horrible, irritable mood.
Waiting for the nurse in charge to come out and talk to me about being able to go back to my room.
I get treated so much more harshly than everyone else here. Some other girl had an incident and didn't get dragged out and room locked all day. She also got to go out for a cigarette outside all day and I was denied my leave for fresh air going out with the smokers.
Why are the staff treating me so differently?

I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!

Who else is fine?!?!?

I'm not surprised you're in a horrible mood - lack of sleep is going to be a major part of that, but sounds like you'e got plenty of other reasons to be irritated besides just that!

I hope today is better for you. When is your next ward round? You could maybe discuss your feelings about the way you are treated compared to others.

Do you prepare for ward round like with a list or something? I find it helps to write everything down, not just like a list but so they can understand it, and then just getting them to read it themselves. Often they read it out so everyone can hear which is a bit cringey but it's easier than trying to explain things off the top of your head or remember everything or find that you're too anxious/whatever to ask one of the important things.

Before I did that I kept the piece of paper as a prompt, but that just led to thoughts of I better not say that bit, or that bit or that bit. When those were important things for them to know. It's much better if you hand the sheet over to them so they can read it all. Good luck.

Just want to echo the writing things down on paper. Really helpful. I'm thinking of you <3

How was last night? (I read your R/V).

Have you made a start on the list?

I ended up nearly doing stuff but was stopped so I gave up and went to bed at about 2am.

Turns out my leave was cancelled completely, not just suspended so the doctor has to write it up again.
So that's another thing to add to the list.
I'm stuck on what else to put on the list because my memory is so crap!
So any help with that would be appreciated.

On a positive note, today I used a razor unsupervised for legit shaving purposes and then handed it in when I was finished. So there's that.
The nurse actually looked really shocked when I came to hand it in

Maybe what your preferences would be for when you're discharged, but reasonable ones that can be discussed.

And you said you wanted to talk about how you feel you're being treated differently than the other patients.

Well done for using the razor as razors are intended to be used! I'm really glad you managed that. Are you all nice and smooth now? I'm surprised there aren't a lot of blocked drains with how long people avoid shaving and then have tons of hair!

Ah yes thanks!

I'm worried they're going to push supported housing due to several incidents in the last week.
But one of the staff the other night said 'I hear you're going on home leave soon' and something similar was said the other day so I don't know.
No one tells me anything

Thanks, it feels good to have shaved!

I saw in your RV you are getting to go home? That sounds like much better news than supported housing if so!

Hope you are as okay as possible.

Yes I am!
I am going home on Thursday after my depot.

I'm ok. A bit nervous but mostly excited
The thing is I went into hospital before lockdown and everything was normal so I'm a bit worried about how different everything will be like at shops and stuff.

Yea, that's definitely a fair thing to be nervous about! Will you have any support when you go home? Or could your mum go with you to places a couple of times if you need?

I'll have carers come in every day and apparently a couple of hours of support at the weekend.
Unfortunately my mum lives too far away to just pop in and help with things otherwise she would.
I might end up asking staff in the supermarket for some help

Most supermarkets have dedicated hours for disabled people. So could you go then? People might be a bit more understanding? But in general life is like a game of pac man now.

I'm really glad there is support in place. How do you feel about it?
I agree - maybe the disabled/vulnerable hours in supermarkets might be helpful or perhaps online delivery?
