Triggering (SI) - I can't decide whether to stop or not...
Hey, I'm new to this forum...
I have a burning issue, i've been trying to give up SI since the moment I started....
... I succeeded, then failed again...
and now I've lacked the motivation to stop, even though I tell myself I should.
Now I'm wondering whether I really SHOULD stop as it takes SO much effort to stop.
Has anyone else been struggling in this way?

As a little kid you believed in fairytales,
that fantasy of what your life would be: white dress; prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill.
You closed your eyes and had complete and utter faith.
Eventually you grow up. One day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears.
But the thing is, it's hard to let go of that fairytale entirely because almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith,
that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true.

hey,
its really your choice. if you feel that you might be strong enough to stop then go for it and poeple on here will support you as much as they can. if not, maybe try cutting down how much you do slowly and see how that works? quitting can be really difficult and ultimatly don't quit for anyone but yourself.
good luck with whatever you decide.
PM me anytime
xx

I find I am constantly struggling with my urges to self harm and wanting to quit self harm for good. To quit you need to be dedicated, and to be dedicated I think you need to know why you are quitting. Perhaps you need to find the right reasons first before you try quitting?

If you can, I suggest you stop.
I know it takes a lot, but, it will only get harder to stop if you continue.

I'm in exactly the same position! It's so hard to stop, maybe I should just not try to until I'm totally sure I want to quit....
ah sorry I can't give any advice but I totally empathize!

It is really hard to stop the urges can be so strong even though you want to stop it takes over. I have found it so hard to stop and did once like you but then started it again. you really need to want to stop and stick at it though it is really hard it's not impossible. XxX
