I am currently:
cant controll my urges

recently I haven't been able to control my urge to burn myself, every time I have a cig I end up stubbing it out on myself. im wondering if theres any non harmful way to control these urges. I live with my best friend and she knows that im feeling very down again but due to my rapid mood changes ( I laugh hysterically or talk non stop) she thinks im starting to perk up and I really don't want her to see my burns.

Any suggestions would be welcome, im on a waiting list to see someone but that takes forever and my antidepressants are pretty rubbish

ye its just really not the same thought =/ I don't get the same satisfaction that I am looking for from those methods, pretty frustrating, my arms are covered in blisters and people are thinking I have some sort of skin condition ha.
im doing better than I have in a while today :) howa you

I've got exactly the same urges at the moment. It's a new form of SH for me so I'm trying to resist doing it any more.

Changing your smoking habits... Holding cigarette in opposite hand to usual (sounds silly but helped me) Or smoke in a different room/chair/place. Breaks the association.

Eating raw chillies - painful + still feels like self-harm because it's a bit extreme.

Work out what you personally are wanting when you self-harm. Helps you pinpoint an alternative that is more satisfying. (Ice and rubber bands don't work for me either.)
