Copinh strategies?
I have bipolar 1 with psychotic features and a neurotic specifier. I've been going to psychotherapy for years now, I see my therapist weekly and I see my psychiatrist monthly. My psychiatrist requires me to go monthly due to my specifier making me more prone to suddenly relapsing. He said if I ever requested to see him less than once a month he would "be forced" to drop me because that would be a "liability" he said he's not willing to take.
I'm doing much better emotionally, but lately when something happens I don't get upset, I just feel pain. I've been having bad muscle spasms or migraines whenever something happens now. Even something minor like waiting to learn what my grade is in my MA program.
Anyone else have this experience? I've been very calm, almost bored, but I'm in pain regularly always in relation timing was of something happening.
Is this a need more therapy thing?

Sorry you have to deal with it. Muscle spasms suck and don't even get me started on migraines, migraine's a bitch!
While therapy might be an answer, it can possibly be more of a physical health issue. I have a similar experience with migraines and my doctor doesn't seem to think it is mental health related. I guess it's more of a "need some kind of pain management" thing.

The thing is the physical pain is always triggered by some exterior stresser. I've talked to my primary doctor about it and he said that's a mental health problem, and my psychiatrist doesn't want to increase my medication anymore than I already have it since I'm no high doses of all my medications. I'm already going to therapy weekly so I don't know what else more I could do?

Can you ask your psychiatrist what can be done, other than upping your medication?

Is it something your therapist is aware of?
How are you generally? My migraines are in part emotional/stress related but get worse if I'm run down. Looking after my physical health can help my emotional resilience

Yeah she's aware of it I'm very honest and open with her.
There's not much more I could do physically, even my psyche has said that. I work out regularly, I sleep at least 8 hours every night, I eat healthy, I meditate daily, I take my medications and rarely miss them, and I keep a structured schedule.
I am doing everything every self help book I've ever read tells you do to do.

What does your therapist think about this issue?
Sometimes even people with healthy lifestyle get physicial health issues. Sucks, I know, but unfortunately that happens. So I don't think that the fact you lead a healthy lifestyle necessary means the issue can't be physical.

I do have physical health problems, so I see my internal medicine specialist 4 times a year. But none of them cause paint. He's assured me many times that my pain is mental. So has my chiropractor.

Have you ever talked to your therapist about your issues with pain?

She just told me to meditated more... Which I am doing but it hasn't really made the pain go away. It might not be as sharp, but it's still there. Eventually I just take Excedrin or something because I can't spend 3 hours a day meditating.

Like I am experiencing real pain. I get actual muscle spasms, but all my doctors tell me they're self inflicted by too much mental stress.

Well, at least meditation can ease the pain...
Honestly, it seems a bit like your doctors are being somewhat dismissive of your issue. I am sorry things are so complicated.
