Side sleeping and neck pain

My sleep is absolutely terrible, the main reason being my neck hurts so much on any pillow (or no pillows) that I can't sleep until I have exhausted myself. I am a side sleeper and the problem might be that I put my arm under my pillow so my neck isn't going to be in proper alignment or whatever. I've tried different pillow firmness, different numbers of pillows, different fillings, different shapes, but nothing is helping. I haven't tried one of those ortho pillows where it elevates your neck but puts your head lower because if I'm putting my arm under the pillow that's not going to work. My neck would prefer me to sleep on my back but I can't fall asleep that way. Any suggestions of what I could try? I'm getting mega annoyed and worried that there seems to be no solution.

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.

Don't try to calm the storm, calm yourself, the storm will pass.

The best pillow I ever used was/is the "My Pillow". You can shape it any way you want to, and it keeps its shape well compared to other pillows. You can puff it high in the middle or make it flat. I see its expensive in UK though.

Thanks for the suggestion. There are some mixed reviews on the UK site but I will have a think.

There are also a lot of chiropractor vids on Youtube about sleeping position and bedding etc. I cant sleep on my back but back in the olden days people slept on their back but with back elevated as if in a reclining chair. I might give that a try
