I am currently:
electro shock therapy? ect?

My psychiatrist is suggesting I get electroshock therapy. Right now, at this rate, with how many meds I'm on and for how long I've been on them... I have minor nerve damage in my hands. It's noticable. I'm an artist, so use of my hands means a lot to me. As it stands, if I stay on the course I'm on now, I will lose use of my hands eventually. And I'm still depressed and suicidal even on 12 medications. My psychiatrist told me I'm on more medications than any patient she's ever had.

I'm about to apply for my doctorate in a year or so to study Clinical Psychology.

If I get electroshock therapy will I ever be high functioning? I heard it causes memory and learning difficulties. Would I still be able to go to college?

I would keep my hands but possibly lose my career.

Any advice? any experience? I'm scared.

I've had 2 courses of ECT.
It does effect your memory but the side effects do wear off.
It hasn't seemed to affect my functioning in a negative way in the long term
It is scary but it's a good treatment

I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!

Who else is fine?!?!?
