permanently unsubscribe from threads?

This is maybe a dumb question, but I did look in settings and couldn't find anything.

If I unsubscribe from a thread, then post in it, I get subscribed again. Which means I have to unsubscribe again. Is there a way to say that I want to stay unsubscribed from just that thread?

The only thing I found seems to be turning subscribing off completely. Which I don't want to do.

I don't think there is a way, but I could be wrong. The only thing I'm wondering is what if you put the original poster on ignore? Which is less possible if it's a thread you started though :P I'm going to test this theory by (temporarily!) putting you on ignore and seeing if this comes up in my subscribed threads...

Oh crap, I thought I was genius because it worked but then I realised it wouldn't show up either way because there's no new posts in this thread since my post

If anyone's on LFV please post in this thread to help me test my Grand Theory!

I don't really want to ignore the user if I'm responding to their thread though!

Hello! Thank you for your assistance in this research :)
UPDATE: Alas my theory was incorrect. Back to square one. And I better go and un-ignore Camden :P

You probably do know this already but not certain from how you worded your OP so I'll say it incase.

So if you turn off the Default Thread Subscription Mode, it just means you wont be auto subscribed to a thread after you post in it. But you can still manually subscribe using thread tools at the top of a thread.

It might be less work that way than having to unsubscribe a lot.

I might give that a try, Muir. The boards are slow enough that I could try that. Thank you!

Sorry not exactly fresh but I think I have another idea which might work/help?

If you go to List Subscriptions in your profile settings :

https://www.recoveryourlife.com/foru...ewsubscription

You can check threads and change the notification frequency (drop down menu down the bottom below the list of threads) from instant (which gets more than a bit much when you've just replied to a thread like I Need a Distraction!) and change it to weekly instead.

That will still send an email per week, but that's a lot better than loads constantly, and replying again to that thread won't / shouldn't affect those settings, so you can cut down noise from some threads but still be able to subscribe to other threads you do want to hear about updates to, be it instantly, daily or weekly

Actually looking at it again, it would appear that it's possible to subscribe to a thread, check it and then mark is as No Updates. It still appears in your list - so I don't think re-replying will change that either. That would be exactly what you wanted right?

I'll have a look, thanks Harley. As is I don't get or want emails other than for PMs. To be honest, having to manually subscribe if I want to is actually kind of nice. It doesn't make me feel obligated to check things, which was a secondary issue that I hadn't even realised was an issue!

That's fair enough! The Default Thread Subscription Mode settings allow for that, as you probaby know

I've only been back (not lurking) for days, and the email notifications were already doing my head in!

She might be a creaky ol' girl but man RYL has a a lot of settings :)
